Ebay's Worst Offerings

Recommended Posts

Is it a case of eBay not allowing you to save an item to your watch list, or won't it allow you to carry out a search in the first place? Surely, the inability to enter a search number into the top bar on eBay's page must be their problem? Giving the user the ability to search no items instead of either one item or none sounds like a program problem?

A problem I once had was saving an item in one eBay account, to then find it actually saved in another 'unrelated' account, amongst other strange happenings! Took me ages to work out that signing out of one eBay account, and then opening another 'different' account in the same browser/page was the problem!

Just in case anyone else has any oddities like mine...you need to open up a 'new' window if you are signing into a new acc.

Clear as mud?

It's the same with Facebook, Twitter, etc - if I want to login to two separate accounts I have to have two browsers open, as otherwise any new tab or window will be for the account I already have open.

No, I only have one Ebay account,

been using saved searches without problems for years without problem, pretty well essential after ebay disallowed wildcards

Is this just me? can anyone else here save a search?

eBay gum (sic). That does not inspire confidence. Maybe they need to pass eBay chatline support to a suitably qualified linguist?

Now that would be a cunning plan B)

I cant see the postage as it doesn't ship to Australia but is it more than 325 pounds ?? That would be extraordinary !

Nice Shilling though. Looks to be in a slab but the label not shown....

cheers Garrett.

This extremely rare Freeman 21 (3+D) is actually the common Freeman 29 (6+D). Watch out! :(

I've informed the seller.

I noticed that error also! The coin does have a 2nd "1" impression slightly to the left of the 2nd one (1) in the date!

I saw the second '1', but it's not something I would particularly bother to collect and certainly not what he is selling it as! It'll be interesting to see whether he replies to my email.

LOL Obviously an error. The postage was £350, but is now a more reasonable £3.50! It was funny to me at the time.

As for the slab, I think it's just in a coin capsule. Doesn't seen too bad a price now postage is back to normal ..

I've informed the seller too....

Me too.

The seller just got back to me with this:

I pulled this for the times being as others have mentioned this is not the F 21. Its odd as I am sure viewing in hand this has a sign on the truncation of the bust. At any rate I will submit it to NGC later see what they come up with. I have another (1860) lot 310755521863 I will send in also as it has no match that I have been able to find (the "I" in britt is Very high) and see what they come up with on that one. Thanks for the input much appreaciated.

My reply included: "….I'm not sure that NGC have a very good record with British coins, especially pennies. We often see misattributed varieties over here. They also tend not to determine Freeman numbers and certainly don't use the even more detailed Gouby reference book…."

The 1860 is interesting in that the 'I' of BRITT has been recut and misaligned, but otherwise it looks like a Freeman 10 to me, with obverse 2 rather than 3 as stated in his description (colon after G: of D:G: points to a tooth)

Ah, he's Tower Mint. This is London Mint. Perhaps they aren't talking? Or perhaps they didn't want a bit of numismatic history get in the way of a nice package?
