I get best match with Firefox AND Chrome! My preference is always 'ending soonest'! ;)

I don't know how I've managed to get 'Price: highest first' by default in Chrome, but I'm quite glad that I have. That and 'newly listed' are the options I use most.

BTW Stuart your PM box is full.

He obviously talks to much

;)

This guy has been selling them for at least a month, if not longer:

I wonder if IRB could sue for use of his design or for using his initials on a readily identifiable product? There must be some copyright legislation that would cover things made/sold in the EU. It might be a tad late for Pistrucci to get involved, but a living person could possibly reduce the flow of these copycat products.

Maybe, but maybe the Royal Mint/government actually owns the rights to the designs.

I think in Canada recently someone got in trouble for trying to use the penny design for some commercial venture without paying the Royal Canadian Mint licensing fees.

an example if there ever was one, of the key to good photo, had a brief look a the seller.

1861 6 over 8?

seems a bad photo is a killer, or people are scared of having a punt, because there are a couple of features there that point to said variety (slanted 8, position of curve on 6), is a bad photo that much of a killer?

or was it the listing itself? i looked through 1861 pennies just yesterday and didn't see this, is it the verd? the interest was there but not to the extent, surely with a good clear photo thats making £50-100

I dunno, Scott, it looks like the entire coin has been overlaid with itself, a kind of semi-transparent image over the same image, maybe a reflection or something? ALL the numerals look displaced by the same amount? I hope I'm wrong, and you've got yourself a goodun! B)

EDIT: It looks like it's been taken through glass (you can see the photographer), maybe it's a double reflection? The bicep and helmet of Britannia all show the same kind of displacement?????????

You're absolutely right. If you zoom your screen, you can see there is a clear case of camera shake, where it moved halfway through the exposure. Most of the legend is doubled in an upwards direction. If it was an underlying 8, its upper loop would be higher than on that picture - I think what we're seeing is the loop of the 6 doubled.

I think the last 1 is too wide for the 8 over 6 reverse. It should be over a space, but it looks to be to a tooth in the photo, unless the photo has distorted this too? The loop of the 8 should also be higher as previously said.

I do wish he hadn't listed it with the mouse over zoom facility. That came as a nasty shock.

Ahem! Now that is one impressive gem!

I have added it to my watch list for a laugh! I wonder how excited he will get if we all added it to our watch lists then ignored it of course? Although we wont get to see his reaction the thought of it has made me smile!

:blink::blink::blink::blink: ???

CHARLES 1ST SHILLING - Sun Mintmark (1632-1633)

CHARLES 1ST SHILLING - Sun Mintmark (1632-1633)

The descriptions in the listings don't match the titles, there are no photos and .. yet people are prepared to bid? Surely cheap rubbish is still .. well, rubbish.

Though I guess people buy lottery tickets too ...

His name rings a bell, but I can't place it? Looking at his feedback, there's a couple of serious coin buyers who've been happy with him stock, which looks pretty interesting generally!

Could be worth emailing him! It might be a good sun, and you just might get lucky? ;)
