Charles II 1663 'Petition Crown'

For anyone that hasn't seen it here is the link to Jeff Cope's 'Petition Crown' website.

Though it's a bit small, here's a pic of the edge engraving. When you consider it's on a coin the size of a £5 coin it's pretty impressive I think! I've reversed the colours for clarity - you can see the original on the site.

I suppose his apparently excessive spending in the Slaney sale can be seen as not so excessive with hindsight.

He's been the bane of my life on ebay too on more than the odd occasion. :(

Yes, it is small and mainly concentrated today on the Petetition Crown as it is mean't as an educational www, it is not a commercial site.

we are open for ideas to add new material to make the Petition Crown more attractive to the general public as well as seasoned collectors.

www.petitioncrown.com

we are interested in as many comments, critics that will come to improve the site

Hi Jeff.

Well, on the basis of the few examples I've seen, I for one would be quite happy to see more of your collection available for wider inspection. Details of previous owners and history would I am sure be interesting too! Give us all something to aim for!

Jeff,

Since you’re a member now you could click on My Controls on your screen, then click on Edit Signature.

If you type in http://petitioncrown.com/Home_Page.html in this space, you will have a link to your website below every post you make. This way when new people visit this website and you add a comment they can still see the link to your great site. Alternatively add it to My Homepage again in My Controls section.

I received an auction catalog from Alan Davisson yesterday, he has a Petition crown in the auction closing in February, you can see the auctions at Britishcoins.com.

There is also a nice Scottish £20 coin from the reign of James VI, but a bit rich for my blood.

WoW thanks for your good words, i really though only a handfull of people would be interested. Within the last two weeks over 200 people looked at the site. This result will encourage me to create another site.

Thanks and keep passing your comments to improve the site :D

There's a typo when you open the page. At the top of my browser it says "BRIRISH PETITION CROWN". Excellent site though, very informative!
