I was always disappointed at how poorly struck the 1953 coins seem to be :(

Yeah the low relief and the lack of good striking... makes UNC coins look VF. I'd love to see PCGS's grading of one of those!

Yes, the 53's are awful, that's why they re engraved things in '54, sharpish. (At first I didn't intend that pun, but there you go, I'll throw it in fee!)
