1853 Farthing

I've had this farthing for a while and I've been wondering it's value. I can look in a book and see the numbers underneath the grades, but I have no experience grading coins.

Looking around this site and at some of the examples/pictures of coins for sale I think that it is somewhere around GF-VF, with the obverse being a slightly lower grade than the reverse.

Is my grading anywhere near correct? - the lustre is hard to make out from these pictures as I have no daylight bulbs, but it is a lot like this similar one - my photo was taken on black card . Also, I can make out a little more detail than the picture suggests.

I'd say Fine at the most, but it's quite hard to tell from the photos. Most of Victoria's hair is worn smooth and detail from Britannia's legs and breast has gone.

Yeah, the photos appear to have blurred the edges a bit, they don't seem to do it justice.

The bust looks a bit deeper than it appears on the photo, but it is still worn, without real detail to the hair as you say.

I'm not wanting to sell it and I'm not after an e-bayesque grading , I just think it's a beautiful object.

It does have the WW incuse rather than raised, so it's a little more than an average 1853

In the condition its in its worth about £5.

If you Ebayed it specifying WW incuse you may get a bit more.

A bargain in my eyes for a beautiful item over 150 years old.
