I recived my new (used) digital camera today so I have been tacking some snapshots. One coin I took a picture of was a 2001 2p I found in my change and kept it due to the nice tonning. What do you think?

I posted a reply to this a couple of hours ago but it's disappeared! Unless I just forgot to press the add reply button....

ANYWAY, I think for a first effort that is really good. You've captured the toning well, which I'm sure you'll appreciate is rather difficult without tilting the coin like you've done. I tend to use a tripod or copystand so that the camera is positioned perpendicular to the subject, but this makes it difficult to capture toning.

The folks over at CU have some real photography buffs whose images are better than anything I could ever achieve!

Nice photo! You have done a great job getting the color right.

What kind of camera is it? (Brand and model)?

And, are you using a copy stand?

What kind of a camera is it?

Canon IXUS 400 (compact 4m pixel camers). Which on itself is not very good at macro but I bought a macro lens attachment on ebay for it.

Here's another attempt:

I think I might buy a stand.

And another slabbed coin I croped on photoshop.

Humm. I have a 4 megapixel Canon too. However, mine won't take a macro lens. :(

Thanks!

What kind is it? my one doesn't take an official macro lens, but the one I bought was from Poland I think. It's made from solid aliminium and slips onto the lens and works great.
