Seems like you need to buy yourself a coin catalogue master JMD!

These are worth next to nothing in relatively low grade. For the Napoleon III coins there is a mint mark (small letter or letters) below the eagle, and some of those can be scarce with certain dates, but it would have to be a very scarce one to be worth anything in low grade. Can't make them out for certain in your pictures...

Also, you have your obverse and reverse the wrong way round :) Obverse is heads.

on my 10 centimes coin it has 'K' under the eagle...and on the napolian III 5 centimes coin it has (what looks like) 'BR' under the head :)

my 10 centimes has some lustre...and my 5 centimes is worn under the eagle...

Also, you have your obverse and reverse the wrong way round :) Obverse is heads

oops :D

i have aready said...the 10 centimes is 1854 and says: emperor napolian III...with 'BARRE' written under the head...

My 5 centimes is 1855, and says: emperor napolian III...with 'BARRE' also written under the head...

It's obverSe and reverSe and NapoLEon. Also, your grading seems way off for some of them, especially the top left one but maybe it's just the pictures.

The reverses are ok, it's just the obverses. The one coin I was wondering about was the top left one. It doesn't look fine in my eyes, it looks rather fair, if not poor but that's my harsh judgement

Alright, 10c 1854K is the only one with a value... my book (published 2001 I think) says US$20 for VF.

I'd have to concur with Oli and say that EF seems a bit optimistic from the picture, given the dark mark, two edge knocks and is that some verdigris at one o'clock?

The book says $40 for XF, and XF isn't the same as EF... but that's another discussion that I don't really feel qualified to offer an opinion on.

Barre was the engraver of the portrait...

Oh yes, I didn't even notice those! I think Master JMD is new to collecting though and doesn't understand thoroughly the complexities of grading - it takes lots of practice and trial and error methinks. Although EF is way off mark for something of that quality

Yes, that EF is around F+ IMHO.

I have the 1854 Napolian III and it appears to hv BR under the eagle. How would you clean or polish this as it has patina? Thnx
