What are your best coins?

I'm not very interested in hammered, but it's alright i guess. Have you got anything nice that's medieval then?

Well only four coins at the minute. A Canterbury mint Edward I penny from 1302ish, an Henry III long cross penny, moneyor William of Canterbury, a king John penny moneyor Simon of Canterbury  and my fave coin in my collection the King Stephen penny, moneyor Richard of Shaftesbury (you thought i was gonna say Canterbury!)

I'm selling all my other coins cos i want to save up for a hammered gold quarter noble...

hmm hammered gold, a dream i've had for many years, i haven't had any yet, but i'm crossing my fingers, thumbs and toes that one day i will.

(just hope a blasted sixpence doesn't turn up when i find a good quarter noble).

That's beautiful, even with the corrosion. And £179 isn't that bad but I bet people can't understand why anyone would pay that for a coin :P

without the corrosion i couldn't have afforded it, it would have been way up there.

Charles I wouldn't do it for me, Charles II would though.

kinda like this...

(my baby is that... :D )

Dunno i'm not into hammered sixpences (yet), any sixpence with a date between 1674 and 1787 and i'm positively drooling. Those after 1816 i just kinda smile.

Medieval hammered gold (not the crowns/unites/rayls and god knows what of the later hammered period).

But nobles down to quarter nobles, and possibly on a good day angels do me quite well...

Stephen, actually you might just be able to see the 'S' if you look hard enough, not very clear, but if you look to the left of the portrait (if you've found that... it took me a while actually :D ) look to the left you'll see a '+' above that should be the remnants of the 'S', i can't think of any other kings we've had beginning with S.
