£2 coin with date error?

Recommended Posts

Guest TonyP

I recently received this coin as change for something in a shop, I didn't notice at first but when I did I mentioned it to a friend who suggested I Googled around - I found this site so here I am :)

I think there's an error on the date (9 is upside down and 7s are back to front). Is that the case? Or is it 1605-1905 and the 5's are just overly stretched?

It's 1605 - 2005 and the 5s are stretched out.

It's a bit stylised, yes.
