threepence coin

[Hi is there any one who can tell me about this coin, it is a 1939 threepence coin but it has been enamabled with a clear laquer and put on a chain, is 1939 a common coin with georgivs v1 on the back and is it common practice to have it put on a chain, i have tried to put some photos on this forum but not sure if it will work

As a coin it has no interest to a collector and little value as jewellery...now if it was dated 1937 with Edward V111 !!!!!!

I would have thought the coin was lacquered so that the brass would not be in raw contact with the skin when worn as a necklace. Contact with brass direct to skin can send the skin of some people green. The other reason could be so that the coin would not lose it's shine.

hi thanks Mark yes it does hold its shine very well and i often thought the world was full of green people now i know why
