hello just wondered if any1 can help with the coin i found whilst digging in the garden? its very thin, i can just about make out new penny written around a delicate looking crown with 1/2 at the bottom. i cant make out the other side as it has gone quite green, but could possibly be latin written around the edge.the coins width is 12 mm and it is 1 mm thin.

any news would be gratefully received, thanx for you time ;)

Sounds like an ordinary 1970s/80s New Half Penny. Fairly common coins.

Cheers,

Clive.

It's a little halfpenny, the decimal type that was stopped in 1984. You're obviously too young to remember them! I was 6 in 1984 and just about remember them. I remember in the road where we used to play, there was one set hard into the road surface. None of us could free it and eventually it was worn flat by the cars.
