Hi I have a Victorian florin but it has no date but I do know it is gothic and pre 1861 can any one explain why it has no date or is the date hidden in the Latin.

I also have the full set of coins from the farthing up to the guinea all in mint condition and wonder what the value would be.

Gothic florins 1851-87 have the date in Roman numerals on the obverse ie 1856=

mdccclvi

m=1000

d=500

c=100

l=50

v=5

i=1

It should be possible to date any unworn coin...however I confess I sometimes have difficulty as the letters are sometimes strange to say the least.

What date is your 1/4d to guinea set....its going to worth a considerable sum regardless.

That'll be a sovereign then, not a guinea (20s, not 21s). Post pictures if you can.
