Standing on the Shoulders of Giants

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am a new user here, and I have a question :)

I am pretty much a new collector, collecting old, foreign and current tender coins. I have over 10,000 coins now (lots need sorting through though!)

Basically I am trying to establish a small collection of coins from the current tender of the UK (From decimalisation to 2008 - before the new coins that have just been released).

I am only 12 coins away from having every coin type from every year but I am a little confused about the £2 coins. I have all the commemorative coins, but I am trying to get all the coins with the basic design on them (Standing on the Shoulders of Giants).

However I am not too certain if the years I am missing had these particular coins minted. Basically I need the following:

2002

2003

I know that the 2002 year had the three commonwealth coins, and the 2003 years had the DNA design but did they have the basic design minted also?

I would appreciate if anyone has this information :)

Wolfgang

Yes they did have the normal one for those years. Source: My book, Check Your Change linked to above!

Thank you very much!!

At least my search for them on ebay etc will not be a waste of time! I can only seem to find the Commonwealth and the DNA ones at the moment. I might have to get the Check your Change book I think.

Thanks again
