Fifty Pound Gold Coin - Britannia Building Society

Recommended Posts

Can anyone give me any idea if this coin has any value apart from scrap? It seems a shame to do that to it if it is something collectors would want.

Many thanks

What year is it and is it mainland GB (i.e. not Channel islands, Isle of Man etc)?

Hi it is 1987, weighs 1/2 ounce and was struck by the Royal Mint for Britannia Building Society. It is in mint condition

Thanks

Chrissie

Sounds like a scrapper. As a dealer I'd try to sell it for 10% above scrap. I doubt it was made for the building society, more likely re-packaged by them because it is known as a 'Britannia'.

I'd offer £239.00 for it.

Many thanks for the info. I have loads of coins to sort so this sight is going to be invaluable to me.

Kind regards

Chrissie
