1861 Farthing Multiple Errors

Recommended Posts

All

This is a strange one, I was up doing a few more pages today and swas looking at the 1861 Farthing and saw this error which looks like an O/G?? in Victoria, there seems to be die flaw in teh same area, but looking closely it has the bottom of the G as well!

But the on the same coin has what looks like a repunched I also in Victoria, and then an R/R or repunched in BRITT

All pics of this on my site

What do you think?

Cheers

James I would say the O/G situation is caused by a die flaw, I have been fooled by similar things in the past, it is surprising how much a die flaw can look like another letter etc.

The I and R look to have been recut, but they are only slightly visible. The early Viccy bronze coins are like the George IV series, there was alot of die tampering going on.
