ultrasonic cleaner

aldi (uk) have cleaners for17.5 pounds ,are they any good ,not the aldi version,just ultrasonis cleaners for coin cleaning?

I used to have a ultrasonic cleaner, and it did not live up to the hype. The only way it would really remove tarnish, dirt, etc. was to add some "coin Dip" to the cleaning solution. The "Dip Solution" would work just as well, without the ultrasonic unit! Maybe others have had better luck.

It depends what kind of muck it is and how long you leave the items in it. I've got a Lighthouse mains unit (I'd not bother with a battery one) and it works well on certain things with just soapy water. On most types of coins it sometimes starts to make a difference but you have to leave it on for hours.
