I have had some coins since 5 years ago, but started collecting about three years ago, and only decided to specialise about 8 months ago.

I started collecting with my father when I was four or five, so about 45 years ago. I have all his coins now, except for the ones my mother kept, and I got her started collecting British after my father died last year. She's a real Anglophile with a growing collection of sixpences. She's getting a William III for Mother's Day (coming up on Sunday) which will pre-date her Anne.

You said the magic word!

I'd say now that at least 4/5ths of my collection is sixpences, with more to come. I just like the size, interesting how i kinda like Dimes too, you think?

William III ones are good!

You do know that the two reigns before are particulary difficult. I still haven't managed to get any James II's...

Still only 7 of James' to get... :o

By the way i've been collecting on and off for 14 or 15 years, got serious in 2000, and specialised in 2002. (Only took me 12 years to specialise then)

Yes, William, my whole family now that I got my mom started. My ex-wife even has a couple that I gave her, she's Dutch, so one that she got is an 1848 guilder. Does that count as a collection? Does she count as family?

Sylvester you're right, the sixpence size is really great, although my mom can't see them too well anymore. :) So I'm starting her on crowns too. I am trying still though to get her at least one sixpence from every reign, so I'm also looking for James II. Never saw one of his on the hoof yet, but I'm sure it will happen soon.

I have been collecting for 9 years and I am only 15. I started off collecting when my Grandfather gave me a bag of some predecimal coins which he saved when the decimal system was introduced. They were all circualted when I got them but I didn't care when I was 6! :P
