I'm just wondering if any of you are going to the London Coin Fair on Saturday 5th June? I might be going but I have to confirm it with my Dad first.

i saw that add a few months ago, i am thinking of going with my mum, but she still hasnt made her mind up because of the terrorist risk on london...

There is no terrorist risk to a Coin faiar in London. No intelligent (not that many of them are) terrorist would attack it when he/she could attack somewhere which would gain huge publicity e.g Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus etc.

Definitely not! By not going to this Coin Fair because of a terrorist threat, they have basically won. Stand up to them, and keep your routine the same like the Londoner did in the Blitz. Did Nazi incendiaries keep them from going to the cinemas? No! Did the blackouts stop them from going to see friends? No!

These statements are inherently wrong. There are soldiers in Heathrow airport on guard for terrorist activity. Only a short while ago, bin Laden proclaimed that plans were being made to attack target in the West. Six people have been arrested in London when traces of the lethal toxin Ricin were found. The Metropolitan Police Comissioner has said that an attack on London is "inevitable" akin to the speech given by Mayor Ken Livingston who said that it would be "miraculous" if London was not attacked. To say there is not going to be an attack on London, even for the forseeable future, is folly.

hey, hey...that was what my mum and dad said to me, i would stand up to the terrorists, but i am not walking 21 miles to a coin fair and 21 miles back, there are no bus routes to london from where i live, and the nearest train station is over 3 miles away...

Terrorists at a coin fair. Now that's just stupid, it makes me laugh. Imagine it: "Fred, you look for Edward the 8th retropatterns, I want them all assasinated, Bob, you take the Churchill crowns, and I'll do the decimal crap. Assasinate everything you find by noon, then we can have lunch, and after that bag the rare stuff and bust outa here!! Everyone, split up!!" Lol!

I collect them because it isn't a huge range of difficult dates and I just like the simple bronze coinage I suppose.

Anyway, there will be allsorts there I would imagine - some in high, some in low grades. A whole strata of coins, one might say.

I've just booked flights, I'll be there on the other side of the tables, sharing one with my mate Richard.

Last time I did very well, and it is huge, so it would be silly not to do it again.

too far for me, i've got very little cash as it is now, and any money i did have to spend, (like £60 or so) would go on the train fare to get there i'd probably be short too... (what is it about £70 or £80 standard return these days?).

if i were you then i would get there as early as posible, otherwise, some of the realy nice coins would have gone

All the best stuff gets sold dealer-dealer before the doors open!

But for the kind of things in your price range penny master, you would probably find things all day. The sensible thing to do is get there as early as you can, without breaking your neck.
