I think it's Charles 1.....?

I am new to this and need some help please identifying this silver coin i found in a field in cheltenham.
From the research i did, i thought it was a Charles the first 1penny silver piece.
If anyone with more knowledge can either confirm or deny this for me, i would be most grateful.

Thanks for replying so fast Clive, the diameter is 15mm, and the diameter of the inner circle is 12mm.

Now this is where we have a bit of a problem. The numerals have worn off of the portrait side so it's hard to tell the denomination. Also, a twopence/halfgroat is normally about 17mm in diameter whereas a penny is 13mm so I'm torn between the two.

Although, going on the 12mm inner circle I feel that it is more likely to be a halfgroat, i.e. a twopence. Therefore it should read "II" behind his portrait but I am unable to tell from the photographs.
