George One Penny 1937

Recommended Posts

I wonder if someone here can help me with this one please?

I can see that the coin is a One Penny of The George era clearly dated as 1937.

But thats it??

On the front the writing is clear enough but thats all that can be made out?

On the rear, again writing clear (date & nomination of coin) also the lighthouse (if thats what it is) underneath the "O" in ONE can be clearly seen and the staff / trident just the 3 arrows are clear.

Anymore information would be very helpfull, or is this simply another coin thats has been well & truly battered about?

cheers

Harder to say with this one. Someone has managed to remove the royal portrait and Britannia, without defacing the legend; the penny is still a perfect shape too. I'd keep it as a curio, which it certainly is, and hope someone can shed some light.
