Am i correct in saying that this is a 1797 George III penny?

This again, was found amongst my late father-in-laws collection.

Are these rare? What sort of grading would you put on this coin.

Yes, no and about Fine in that order. They are very common in low grade. Boulton struck at least 1000 tons of copper into cartwheel pennies and twopences, of which only about 4% was twopences.

one of my fave coins :D

its definatly worth more then melt in that grade.

I'd say the obverse is About Fine, the reverse is barely Fair - some of the legend is worn away. You could pick up a better one on eBay for less than £10, I'm sure.
