what's the oldest coin in your collection, and what's the newest? (obviously the coins in your pocket do not count unless you actually put them in your collection).

For me it would be...

Oldest = Stephen penny (minted 1136-45) hopefully i'll get a Canute or Æthelred II penny eventually so that will be pushed back a hundred or so years.

Newest = British, would be my 1864 Gothic florin, US, would be a 1969 proof Washington Quarter. (or was it 67?) :huh:

In what I regard as my 'collection' :

Oldest.. Edward VI shilling (im Y 1551-53)

Newest.. Charles I shilling, (im Sceptre 1647-48)

The rest is just assorted odds and ends (including one of those R@RE 2004 2ps!)

hmm...in my collection all together, my oldest coin is the 1797 cartwheelpenny and my newest is a 2004 1 pence and 2 pence...but;

out of my predecimal pennies:

oldest = 1797

newest = 1970 proof

i also do have a folder for storing todays money in:

Oldest = 1968 10p (i like that one for some reason)

Newest = 2004 1p/2p...

:)

I would call it AVF/VF - if it's real, something looks kinda strange about it...

Unfortunately though, someone has welded a loop into the top in the past

It's a shame it has a welding mark. What looks strange about it?
