First of all, it is a coin from the reign of George V, however, I will need a bit more information, eg. size, which denomination it is (what the coin sayd on the front eg. half penny, penny, half crown, farthing etc....), and grade (condition).

Ok the coin is any old one penny

the size is 3cm and the condition is very good for its age.

Ok. Ploggy, could you please tell me which date it is and if it is shiny or not?

Ploggy said it's 1916.

If it's in average/worn condition it won't be worth much I'm afraid.

I'm selling this one (and it's been there a while!) for 50p:

You would need to register first but it's not worth it really as it sounds worn.

That is a 1916 Penny in 'Fine' condition and is worth no more than £1. However, the coin is in very good condition for it's age considering it would have been in circulation until 1971.

Oli is gonna be critical of that comment.

No, it was 1971. They remained legal tender until the end of August that year as we had a changeover period after D-day on 15 February. You could still use old pennies as long as they were in multiples which added up to a decimal amount, like six for two and a half new pence.

no what i meant was there is no such thing as a coin that is good for its age, i've seen Ancient Greek coins in better condition.

exactly...i own a 1901 BU full lustre penny, i can say that that is good for its age, but i would not say that a 1916 fine condition penny is good...
