George III - but what is it?

Still sorting through various assorted boxes and flips, came across this, any idea what it is?

(The colour is deep bronze so I had to lighten the scan considerably to make the detail visible.)

An IoM issue perhaps?

Depends on the size - it could also be an I.O.M. halfpenny.

Aha! Having received my first ever coin catalogue in the post today I now know that it is indeed an Isle of Man 1813 Halfpenny and worth £8 at F grade. Fun, this coin collecting lark, isn't it?

Oops - can you double check? If it's the same size as a QEII halfpenny, it may well be a farthing! (That sounds confusing I know, but the 1797 penny is MUCH larger than a QEII penny, so the same should apply to the halfpenny ... I'm not certain, it's just a thought)

Hmm, the catalogue lists a Penny issued in 1813, but no Farthing (closest date is 1839) and the image used to illustrate the halfpenny is identical to my coin. It's likely to be the Halfpenny then?

Yes, quite probably. I'm afraid I'm not an expert on IOM coins but I do have a worn 1798 somewhere, and I THOUGHT it was a farthing, but indeed it could be a halfpenny. Though I'm still puzzled why it's only the same size as a bronze 1/2d
