Collection of old coins

Recommended Posts

Hey there. I'm new here and if I'm honest I know nothing at all about coins :lol:

To cut to the chase, I have been given a load of old coins which have been passed down to me. I was just hoping this was the right place to get the information I need. Basically I was just wondering if they are of any value, where could I sell them, or if it's best to keep them and pass them down to my children or grandchildren in years to come.

I have;

12 old 1p coins (the large ones) : 1901, 1914, 1916, 1920, 1931, 1961, 1963, 1966 (3), 1967 (2)

I have 8 Farthing coins : 1901, 1905, 1926, 1938, 1943, 1945, 1948, 1950.

I have 8 1/2 penny coins : 1958, 1963, 1971 (2), 1974 (2), 1976, 1979

Half Crown - 1948

One Shilling - 1953, 1957

Two Shillings - 1948

Old large 10p - 1973

Six Pence - 1955, 1958, 1961

Three Pence - 1919, 1935, 1964

UNA Peseta - 1953 (Spanish)

Cinco Gramos - 1870 (Spanish)

Any information large or small would be much appreciated. As I said I know nothing about coins, knowing my luck they are probably common and worthless...

Anyway, thanks in advance.

Wayne :)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unless they are in stunning condition then apart from the 1919 3d (which is 92.5% silver and has a scrap value), everything else is to all intents and purposes worthless - there are literally millions of this sort of old coin kicking about and demand is zero. Can't unfortunately comment on the Spanish coins but suspect the same applies there too.
