Recommended Posts

I have come across 18 x farthings all Victorian. Can anyone tell me the rough value in G-EF

1869

1880

1860 Shiny but a bit out of shape, ding in mid

1878 x 2

1901 x 2

1882H

1861 shiny looks bit polished

1868

1890

1882H

1900

1899 x 2

1886 very clear detail

1879

1875H

I am going to sell maybe one for the Bay? I am thinking about £20 worth or am I far wrong?

Are there any rare things to look out for among these dates please???

I descibed as scanning seems useless for rhese darker coins

There are a few resident farthing experts who will doubtless be along in a minute with a definitive opinion, but I think you may do rather better than £20 ?

Nothing there is really a key date although the 1869 is fairly rare.

Have a look at Chris's coins for a guide on grades if they are truly GEF you will get in excess of £100 although the cleaned/damaged coins will not sell for much....down to circulated F coins their value will drop to about £20.

As long as you can get decent images they will sell.

Russ,

I think you would do well getting £20 for them. Worth having a look at the Obverse of the 1875h and 1880 just to check for Freeman 530 or 1880 3 berries, but the chances will be very slim!! :D

Stick 'em on anyway Russ, amazing things happen on ebay these days and it's a lot of fun watching what happens, as you well know.

Let me know when you've put them up and I'll watch ?

Rgds,
