Identifying pre-Victorian halfpenny or euro token

Hi all

Can anyone help me identify a copper coin that turned up in my small change 50 years ago ?

It is 27mm in dia, 1mm thick, depicting a monarch ?? facing left with a long face and hair piled up but tied with a ribbon ?? below the ear-line. The reverse is worn smooth.

I made an enlarged copy directly onto the photocopier and redrew the outline - see attached.

It looks vaguely Victorian. A scanned digital camera image of both sides would be incredibly useful.

When you say it turned up in your change, presumably, being 27mm in diameter, it was masquerading as a halfpenny ? I appreciate it's a long time ago, though. What ? 1960 in fact

I was seriously going to suggest George II !! (The triple tie band behind head would seem to suggest it). But worthless, even so, sadly.

Thx for your suggestions - the reverse side is worn flat. I first started collecting coins when I was at Uni back in the 60's. It was triggered by me finding a lusterous 1908 Penny VF+ in my loose change - someone must have been very annoyed losing that !

I still have a GVF 1909 halfpenny I found while doing the 'bank bag shuffle' in the 60s. That's one thing I curse decimalisation for - the loss of all those opportunities.

Likewise - my best 'bank bag shuffle' result was a GVF 1919 shilling which I still have.
