This was listed on Ebay as a "tail only" penny

The Obverse had obviously been machined out, but Britannia looked a little odd, so I decided to have a punt at £2.50

Poor Brittania has been stripped, no wonder Queen Victoria left the stage, obviously "not amused"

:)

Any one else got interesting altered coins to share here?

Talking of the Windmill Britannia, there's a wonderful 18th Century pattern halfpenny which shows a nude Britannia! It's in Pecker. Er, I mean Peck. :lol:

That's her!

Hmmm... interesting. Why is she sitting on what looks like an oversized football, holding a tea tray and a shovel rather awkwardly in her left hand while pointing at something out of shot with her right? All rather enigmatic...

I remember seeing a few altered Britannia's for sale over the years. The first had Britannia's shield recut into a swastika, and then there was this which was for sale on e-bay two or three years back;

Sorry, the edit function won't let me insert pictures so I'll put it on a new post.

I saw one on eBay about a year ago that was a combination of a George V penny and a French 10 centimes that had George kissing Marianne that has to be one of the best I have seen in awhile.

That's a fantastic job! Love it - if I'd seen it for sale I would certainly have bought it. :)
