1961 & 1939 Shilling

Recommended Posts

my grandma showed me some pre-decimal coins(nothing much except from a few foriegn coins)

and

i want to know about 1939 shilling and 1963 shilling that my grandma actually made at expediton when she was 12

and they are both in good condition

the 1939 is very shiny like it was only say a month old

the 1963 is a bit duller but still in amazing condition

i haven't got a scanner in access at the moment but i will

I'm not quite sure what you mean about your grandma? If the coins are UNC (pictures would be good when you're able!) then the 1939 would be worth around £6 - £8 (it contains real silver) and the 1963 no more than a pound or two.

There are two different reverses of each - "English" and "Scottish" (worth the same each, for those two dates) : on the 1939, the English lion is standing on the crown, the Scottish lion is squatting on it like it's having a sh*t. On the 1963, there are three leopards, and on the Scottish, one lion upright.

You said 1963 before, not 1961. The 1961 Scottish is worth more as it's scarcer. Up to £5 for a truly Unc example.

1939 in GVF, perhaps £2 - £3 max.

Badger, when you click Reply, the post you're replying to is quoted for you in the reply box. So you just type after the end quote that's already there.
