A quick question for the knowledgable ones

Anyone heard of a Viccie Silver Halfpenny? Not maundy, like a regular Halfpenny but in silver? The picture attached is the reason i ask. The guy tells me it's silver, never heard of one before, now whether i'm just being dumb or perhaps missing something?

There will probably be some patterns in silver, but they certainly didn't exist as a regular mint issue.

I can see enough bronze colour showing through at the edges to make me 99% sure it's a bronze halfpenny that's been silvered post-issue. It's in a nice grade, so if the date is right, and the price is right, and it floats your boat, go for it! Don't fall for any "Rare" BS though. It should be priced LESS than the regular issue.

Am just waiting Peck, i've asked him if he can tell me the weight of it,its graded UNC, but Britts face looks a smidge worn to me, maybe just the camera position etc, but as you say, it does look decent, doesn't state rare etc, just a normal Halfpenny.

I have two silver plated veil head pennies that look very similar. French 10c pieces 1898 to 1920 were commonly decorated with gold, silver and sometimes both 10c doré et argenté 1898 and still command a decent price.

The Weight should be significantly heavier if it is the normal thickness of other halfpennies. The weight of a genuine silver equivalent of a, known to me, bronze penny is ~15 grams, when the currency coin weighs ~9.35 grams. So you are looking at 50-60% heavier for a silver coin compaired with a bronze coin of the same size. The date of the coin would be of interest

Looks to be plated silver to me. I think I see plenty of spots with copper showing...Some loss of detail with plating. As they said in the American movie, "Forrest Gump", I would run Forrest, run!
