British Trade Dollar

Recommended Posts

I know nothing about coin collecting but have been given a couple of interesting items:-

1. A British trade dollar dated 1895

2. A large bronze Coin? 75mm diam. Inscribed around the edge "Presented to THE RIVER STEAM NAVIGATION CO. By The Committee March1892"

I have attached pictures of the trade dollar the other will have to go on a seperate posting due to file sizepost-5732-091298000 1285414357_thumb.jpgpost-5732-094953900 1285414387_thumb.jpg.

Your pictures are very pixelated to see anything on it, i think you have böown a very small picture to the extreme and has therefor distorted the image

I do not believe that brilliant images are needed if coinquest asked for "info about trade dollars"...

So, here is a link that provides some concise information that might 'enlighten' you: http://silvercoinand.com/british-trade-dollar.html

I just sold two of these, they didn't make big bucks but as soon as I'd posted them off I rather regretted it; actually rather nice 'big' coins and there's plenty of detail on the obverse.

Um ... is there a particular reason you haven't mentioned Edward VII florins?

You can't have a point for each denomination in the series, you get one point for the bullion Britannia's
