Dot on this 1876H or Not?

Recommended Posts

Been watching this for a week, not a brilliant coin i know and i almost surfed past it when a friend i was talking to (who's also into coins) noticed the REV of this, so take a looksy and see what you all think. The dot (or what looks to be one) is next to the E in ONE. Anyone seen this before?

Hi Az, Can you post a higher res picture of the E and Britannia's head? looks to be a similar dot on her cheek, so my gut reaction is crud/corrosion

All will be revealed when it arrives i suppose, the dot next to the E looks larger than these others that have been spotted, so no idea.

Hm. I hate to sound a sour note here, but have you thought it might be dandruff from the seller? Just sayin' ...

Looks like a toning spot, or possibly an ejaculating lighthouse?

If you're getting into dots now Dave I can send you a book with loads of them in. If you join them all together you get nice pictures to colour in and stick on your wall :D

Lordy

Personally, I don't think it's a dot as such. The metal might have a bump in it from the minting process, but it doesn't really look like an error to me.

That said, another pic when Az has the coin in hand, wouldn't go amiss.

Lol, i never thought a coin would bring so much joy and laughter, so if we can focus a little ladies and look at it this way, if it is a dot and i didn't buy it i would have kicked myself, and if it is a dot, who will be laughing longer?

If its not a dot, then no harm done as it only cost 3 pound and some pennies, so it wasn't a hardship to the pocket, so lets await on the coins arrival and see what we have then.

Your logic, unlike your coin, is flawless

Personally I go with the dandruff hypothesis.

Phew. I'm relieved. The last thing I'd want to do is get rid of someone else's dandruff off a coin!
