The Victorian Bronze series of 1860 to 1901

Recommended Posts

The book, The British Bronze Penny (Victoria) 1860 to 1901 from Micheal gouby, who has it and would you recommend it? Sounds interesting and I am thinking of getting a copy but would like your opinions.

Thanks in advance. Gary.

Gary,

It is the BEST reference. The way it is cateloged really makes it easy to understand and to use. I have the Specialized Edition, and use it all the time.

I bought it last month, the latest edition, excellent reference for varieties, a good read to. You'll not need anything else for penny reference

Thanks for that, I suppose I will now have to order a copy. Just wanted to check that it was worth the £56 (with postage) :)

Hi Gary,

I'm sure you won't be disappointed with your purchase, I received my specialised edition of Gouby today and must say that I am very happy with it! It is well laid out, very easy to understand and contains a large number of clear, colour pictures which aid classification.

I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a serious interest in Victorian bronze pennies. It is a great reference tool in addition to Freeman and Peck and well worth the 50 quid.

The only downside to this book for me is that the pages are a little thin, would have been better with card like paper for the pictures, but still, a quality book and will give you endless nightmares trying to collect varieties

So true Azda,

Never thought I'd see the day, but within an hour of having the book I was busy counting border teeth and checking date widths :ph34r:

It looks like the endless nightmares have just begun ... :D
