it is the 1930 german 3 mark zeppelin coin with an A mintmar in VF condition........

£35 i thought it was a bargain as it is certainly not a very common coin.

It's in the Krause catalogue as 60 USD, which is £38.48 with mintmark A and in VF condition, so you paid about right for it.
