German coins

Recommended Posts

Guest johndes

Hi, I would be grateful for any advice that forum members could give please. I have 3 silver German coins which are,

2No. Deutchmark coins dated 1939 that have a German Swatzika design on the back, One I would say was in a good condition and the other Fair condition.

1No.2 Deuthmark coin dated 1928 (I think).

Would any body hazard a guess at to what they would be worth ?.

Many thanks

Your 1939s depend on the mintmark. If the mintmark is B or G then you're in the money, around £60. J is worth around £15 and the rest around £6.

With the 1928, it isn't. They weren't minted that year as far as I'm aware.

On average, the surrounding dates are worth about £7 on average in fine condition.

So you've got a figure between £13 and £67, depending on the marks.

I have the German bible on these coins, the 1939 2 Reichsmark mintmark E is the one you'd be looking for, in highest grade value is 130 euros, other mints are on average 25 euros in highest grades, the other you have i'm not sure what it is, so if you have a picture it would be helpful. Not sure where Sion got her mintmark values from, but those are wrong

Hi, Many thanks for your replies. I have given the coins a bit of a clean and got hold of a magnifying glass and the correct dates are,

1 No. 2 Deutchmark (Swatzika on reverse) 1937.

1 No. 2 Reichs mark. 1926.

1 No. 1 Mark. 1907.

Sorry to have given you the wrong dates before.Where would I find the mintmark ?

Regards,

John

Hmmmmmmmm, what did you CLEAN your coins with John, its certainly not a good idea to clean coins. Mintmarks are on the REV of the coins. The 1937 i assume is of the Paul Von Hindeburg, all 1937 mintmarks are of minimal values, with 40 euros being top price for top grade.

1 Mark 1907 has a few good prices, but depends on state and mintmark, same goes for the 2 Mark, that will also depend on state and mintmark, the mintmark on the 1926 is on the OBV (front) just above the laurel wreath. If you can find the mintmarks and maybe upload a couple of pix of each coin it would be more helpful determining price
