The odd edge knock and some bag marking detracts a little but there is very little sign of wear.

The first points to show on the reverse are the corners of the shield and they show only the feintest trace, the garter legend is very strong. GVF is a safe assessment for buying but I would think it'll be a little bit better in the hand. Certainly not A UNC though! Never trust a dealer Dave ;)

I think the AU grade was of the American standard John, which is EF UK standard. I think its better than GVF personally, although i would say that i suppose, but whatever, it shall be weighed, measured etc etc etc, as someone else said Eddie is notouriously difficult to capture in an light, but i hope it's as nice as it looks when it arrives.

The same seller has an 1821 farthing, unfortunately he's saying it's proof, which its not, as i looked through the topic coling started about the very same coin last week ish, still a nice coin, but not the proof type he's saying. I shall inform him of this when mine has been sent out, don't want any cockups there ;)

Here's another from the same seller. 1841 Half Sov, very nice to, but a hefty price tag

Very nice coin, that 1841 half sov.

IMO, the 1905 2/6 looks legitimate and of EF standard, albeit with at least an edge knock that is not severe. Better than VF, and remember that it must be seen in hand as many times the hair on Eddy is not struck up to start with. At least to me a VF or GVF specimen would have more wear apparent on obv. and even reverse.

Of definate EF standard, certainly Not VF or GVF, i have'nt seen a better example for a While, but maybe i'm biased :)

i've always been impulsive and wasn't going to let such a good looking coin Pass by.

I'll save the pipe smoking until i reach 21 (again) ;)

Well sir, you are certainly providing some entertainment, what with your moves and the most excellent recent glut of unfortunate spelling mistakes, who needs the telly ?

Let us hope that is a good 'un and you can make a turn on it.

I've had interest already 400 but Fall short of what i believe its worth, so i'm an interested spectator on this weeks London coin auctions, 2 1905s in there at VF estimate 1750-2000, so an EF should be?

Depending on how they go i may go for that option myself

Which, London Coins? It will be interesting to see what they would go for.

This is a case where as much as third party grading is eschewed on these boards that a PCGS or possibly CGS certified coin might bring more because of guaruntee of authenticity, a stamp of approval as it were.

What would an ordinary VF coin bring versus a PCGS VF35 coin? I believe that the latter would bring more and certainly would if auctioned by Heritage over in the USA.

Both of those are an option. Does PCGS have a European base or are they just in America,. I assume CGS takes on average 30 ish days or more?

Yeah, I don't think you'll get it done within your return window, mind you, doesn't hurt to ask.....

PCGS has a presence in Paris. Check their site: www.pcgs.com

I have many of my better pieces entombed and am the happier for their long term status as well as being "convertible" in larger auctions. This despite my preference to be able to hold coins.

Yes, definately my recommendation and they will have a tendency to try to be VERY helpful, seeing as how they are trying to establsh an European presence.

Coin was Grades AU, i'm thinking probably American AU rather than the english version, so EF. Dealer is reputable and in Europe, quite Lear the Channel actualy ;) that should give you a good ibdicator which country.

As for price, well for now, 4 figures and personally it does look good to me also, an honest coin As they say and by the Looks of it, it has a nice Gun metal grey to it. In Hand pictures will Be uploaded when the bugger arrives.

Peck, do you have friends who work Ar CGS? Lol

LOL Well actually I used to know Stephen Lockett quite well - often saw him at fairs and auctions and bought a fair amount of stuff off him.

Next 4 pictures are the 2 1905 Halfcrowns that London coins are selling, their grade is VF, so if those are VF (this is more for Peck) then i'm very happy to say mine must be EF.

See what you think, i've kept the pictures at hi res so it's easier to compare
