Hi. Welcome to the forum.

If you want people to look at your coins, you will have to put it in a format they can use. You shouldn't need to download anything to view it. Download = possible virus, so best ignore it and move on.

Welcome Gerrit :)

Second tip - don't require people to use a proprietary software. I don't have Silverlight, and I have no intention of getting it. I'd suggest Flash (evil though it is) and pdf. Also, build your site so the following browsers can use it :

Firefox

Safari

Chrome

Internet Explorer (if you must!)

and the following platforms :

Windows XP / Vista / 7

Mac OS X

Linux

Thank you for the info, sorry it takes month for building this, why in silverlight it gives more effects, silverlight is a windows application so there is no virus insite, windows go on to develop silverlight and hopefull this is the future for the most sites.

Yes, but with using Silverlight which is used in a vast minority of websites, while being a pioneer it is not 100% compatible with everything.

You've got to ask yourself if it's worth the extra effects for a site that some people can't even look at.

Silverlight is not a virus but if you're desperate to view the site you can download it from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx

The site is interesting but has nawt to do with British coins as Europe is only listed as having 2 countries or 5 nations.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be discouraging. But, when you're developing websites you have to be aware of all the potential users. I'm a Mac user and I can't use Silverlight, but I can use Adobe Flash. If I downloaded Silverlight it would be an .exe file which is useless to me. Then there are also the Linux users... So, that's why I said what I did above.

FWIW I use OS X 10.5 on a G5 iMac, and I can run Safari, Firefox, or Opera browsers. Probably Chrome as well but I haven't tried yet. Most websites I can access with no problems, but yours came up saying "You need Silverlight to view this website". Then I knew I was f*cked.

Sorry I don't mean to be nasty, we just started some where, Mike the developer choose silverlight and I talk about the problems that some people have with it, it is around 5% of the people, it takes a long time to change it all, but we think to start with it so that people can choose even for the IPad because that is also a problem, thank you for the respons and thinking, this is also a part of the catalog we want that peolple say what they like and want of this catalog.

The one I use as a profile pic? I paid £70 for it which I suppose is about average for a Charles I shilling. It's a good strike but bits have been snipped off the edges as often happens ...

Are you planning on making a section on your website for British coins?

I think people here would be co-operative if you wanted a couple of type examples.

Chris Perkins has probably the best book on the value of British coins called Collectors Coins Great Britain.

It's cheap over Amazon.

Are you looking for pictures of coins only in uncirculated condition with the backgrounds photoshopped out?
