I have a 1908 coin with a man on a horse on the back side and a face on the front side. It is sillver, I can't read all of the first name, it looks like "ADARLUS VII D.G.BRITT" that is about all I can make out. Can someone please help me? Thanks

The man on the horse is St. George. The obverse is a portrait of Edward VII. If the coin is dated 1908 and is silver, measuring about 38 mm, then you have a fake crown. The only genuine crowns of that type are dated 1902

The only coins minted with St. George dated 1908 were made of gold: sovereigns and half sovereigns.

It could be a medal (Ask Geoff :) ), or it could be austrailian etc...

Not Australian. They didn't begin issuing coins until 1910.

I was just eliminating Australia from your list of possibilities, because it is not possible. Neither is South Africa, which did not issue any coins under British rule until 1923. Nor can it be New Zealand, which didn't issue coins until 1933.

I don't think this is a medal. Wybrit is correct; an Edward VII crown fits the description but they were only issued in 1902. It could possibly be a modern retropattern. An indication of the size or a picture would help (you need to register to post a picture).

Fake Edward VII crowns with dates other than 1902 have been available on ebay in the past. It would be nice to see a picture or get some measurement of the coin's diameter, though.

Guest Tammy

I will measure the coin and get back to you. The coin has some scrapes and scratches on it so some of the stuff was kind of hard to read. Thank you all for helping and I will put some measurements up tomorrow. I will also register so I can get some pictures up.

Thanks again,

Tammy
