Copies of rare or scarce coins

I've been on the lookout for threepence coins, and have come across several sellers who say the coin is "Unique", then go on to say it's a "Proof modern pattern".

I do acknowledge that these coins are no longer actual currency, but surely flogging fakes is a bit ropey?

All quite obvious copies; I assume you mean the 1937 Ed8 and 1945 G6 3ds?

Don't think anybody really worries about this - maybe in 50 or more years a problem.

I spose it would seem a bit daft to you seasoned veterans :P, but I have got a couple of really good 3d pieces, and when I saw the ads on FleaBay for "1945 Silver Threepence" I had a bit of a fluffy moment :rolleyes:

Seems a bit silly really. Only people who know that 1945 is a "good" date to look out for would take any notice, and I can't really see those same people buying a fake for fifteen quid.

Welcome to the forum.

The answer to your question depends on where you are.

There are several dealers who use this site and we all give valuations.

It also depends on what sort of valuation you want;

1) Do you want to know what you should insure them for (ie the cost to replace them all in the same grades)?

2) Do you want to know what a dealer would pay you for them?

3) Do you want to know what they would fetch in auction?
