I'm sure I still have some of that kind of thing left over from my dealing days. I'd be happy to let them go just for postage costs. I'd need to look through it first, can't even remember what I've got.

I dont suppose we can get a pic of the reverse of the 1903?! Always the glimmer of hope of an open 3!

Don't wind the lad up.

From a very early age I was convinced I had an early unrecorded hammered groat (that my father dug up in his allotment). It was of course a jetton.

Apologies - I was winding myself up more than anything!

The kid's got a lovely varied set of coins there, and I hope that he will become (if he's not already!) as passionate about numismatics as the rest of us!

Good start!

Don't forget to distinguish between English and Scottish shillings after 1937 - the differences in scarcity can be significant.

As a useful exercise, see if you can identify which of the 4 varieties of 1913 penny you have, and just in case, have a look on Michael Gouby's website to check for Gouby X on your 1911 penny.

How are you off for books? I have a 2009 Spink I don't use anymore. If you want it I'll send it to you for nothing.

You have some nice coins.

Let all your family and friends know you collect coins. You maybe suprised how many people have some tucked away in a drawer collecting dust.

With your silver coins pre 1920 are 92.5% silver (1913 3d) and pre 1947 (to 1920) are 50% silver.

Collectors coins GB produced by predecimal is an excellent little book and I believe the 2005 edition is free online.

Get to know a few coins to look out for.You will see hundreds of 1967 coins.

i got given a little package from someone here (don't know who)

that had CCGB 2010 (2009 has a nicer cover to me )

the grading british coins book (otherwise i would still be calling my coins all poor or fair)

and check your change

it was nice

i think all my shillings are english

i know how common 1967 were from the start (even though i started with a 1961 penny that i lost

thank you for commenting

Not rare at all, but it's a very popular and very nice set. What's more, it's the only issued proof set for the Elizabeth II second type (i.e. post-1953). Well worth adding to a collection - it would be my Number One of the modern proof sets, with 1971 (first decimal set) and 1972 (proof-only year) my #2 and #3.
