Thoughts on this Sovereign

Recommended Posts

Been looking around for a Sovereign for my sons birthday next month (a small investment for him) and came across this one. I thought the legend was punched together on coins, but i can't see how it can be judging by the A in VICTORIA, (or was it added later after minting) its definately more straighter than the other letters in the legend.

Thoughts anyone?

Most of the letters seem to be out of the proper alignment, which is a bit odd. The earlier Victorian coins were usually of a high standard of workmanship. Issues like these would tend to make me a little suspicious.

There are many fake gold coins.

Thet are not usually sought for their varieties.

An investment....Ummm.A nice good portrait hammered Liz would be about the same price.

That's a milled coin Dave! But to my eyes, the best of Liz's output :)
