Ok, i'm hoping the ebayer will come onto the forum and look at the thread. She says she's been told lots of conflicting opinions of this coin. So a couple of things, wanting to identify the die pairing and also determine if its been cleaned or not, my guess is it has been, but opinions can always differ................Opinions please.

It doesn't look like a worthwhile investment to me, Dave.

F66 with verdigris and Duraglit. Probably the second most common 1874 penny. Value is probably very little.

I think you misunderstood my intention Michael. I put this on the forum for the seller, she thought it was rare and with lustre, i corresponded with her stating otherwise and pointed her to the predecimal forum. I basically put her ebay pictures up here and asked her to follow my link to this thread so she can see exactly what she had.

Its like many sellers on ebay, everything they have is rare and with lustre, this seller obviously wants to learn, and i have already seen her become a member here, so hopefully she can see i was'nt bullshitting when i said it was'nt rare and it was actually cleaned in some way or other.

And so, just for the seller of the actual coin, Freeman66 is OBV 6 plus REV G and not the REV I that you thought it might be. Rarity rating is R6 which is 30,001-50,000 made.

Also the verdigris is also a huge problem on any Bronze coin, which in effect gives it an even lesser value unfortunately.Sorry you had to find out the hard way Linda, but many collectors also find out this way, this is what forums are for, to hopefully not make so many costly mistakes.
