Well, she liked Wadham, but Wadham didn't feel the same about her! The rejection letter arrived today.

Looks like her first choice will now be Nottingham, with Sheffield as back-up (since they are asking for one lesser grade at A Level!)

That might change in mid-January when Bristol is due to make it's decisions but to be honest either would be a fine choice. I like Nottingham because it offers Hispanic studies (which includes Portugese; useful in Brazil) over straight Spanish, but ultimately it's daughter's decision!

Congrats to her Tom. I'm sure you and your wife are very proud. I hope one day Sophia decides to go to Uni and sticks in at school.

If I had applied for any of these big name Uni's my application would have been filled in the bin, probably after giving everyone that read it a good laugh first. I kind of wished that I had tried harder at school, but having said that I don't know if achieving higher grades would have helped me much in my previous and current career choices.

The only thing I regret is not having and end game focus at school, I take my hat of to all those people that know what occupation or job they would like to do and study and achieve the grades required to go for it. I never really knew what I wanted to do at school. My dream job would have been sea salvage/ wreck diver or underwater archaeology but it was probably always going to be pie in the sky stuff.
