Hi

I will be honest with you.

Without further investigations (I assume the early Victorian coins are 1d's)

Very little.

The 2 pre 1947 silver coins are 50% silver and worth maybe £1.50 ish for the pair. The 1871 date only 1d is rare

but worth buttons in that condition...so my guess is £5 tops for the lot...maybe sell as 1 lot on Ebay (beware high postage and hassle)or £5 for the lot at a carboot.

I also assume the veiled head Victorian 1d's are average circulated.

Good luck in trying...why not keep them?

Unfortunately collectors want coins in a condition that's as close as possible to the day they came out the mint. Worn coins (unless they have some silver in like the 3d which at 50% is not much scrap silver) even when rare dates don't command high prices. When I say as close as possible, this is the sort of thing:

post-129-097104300 1325186627_thumb.jpg

This 1870 penny sold last year for £30. Not a huge amount for something that's survived 140 years with very little damage or wear. Coins in worn condition go for a fraction of this. Which is my way of saying that probably there's little value to the coins listed.

However, if you can be bothered, they will most likely sell on ebay if you start the price low. Whether they will sell for more than a few pence will depend on luck. Alternatively a car boot sale, or if you know a kid who might be interested in a few coins to start a collection ...

Thank you for your help, my dad is nearly 90 so didn't want to keep them if i'm honest, thanks

A few years back I gave a lot of coins like this to one of my daughters (then)primary school. They were learning about Victorian Britain.

These were the 1895 to 1901 1d's.

I know they went down like a storm and even ended up like a currency with a few of the kids trying to get all the dates :)

As Tom said if your father has any grand (or great) grandchildren etc why not let them have them?

Mmmm .. thank you. Unfortunately I don't see anything about British coins on the site linked, which makes me wonder if this isn't just spam. While there are some that might be interested in slabbed US coins and bullion here, most aren't.

But in case you actually are a real person and representative of this company jaden, I'll say 'welcome' and feel free to join in the coin chat.

Oh, and the website linked? It needs a quick search function that you can just type in a term, or name of a coin you're interested in, in my opinion.

To be honest, if the statement he made as to being a british coins specialist where true, I would expect to see a large selection being shown or even listed. Still can't see any. so I guess I have to agree.
