You know Dave I did see that one but didn't really look closely and realise they were birds. Thank you for pointing it out!

If it was some sort of stamping machine Stuart then that might mean that there are other coins out there with the same stamping, must watch out. I've seen those machines around which stamp, flatten and stretch coins but I've always thought them too expensive to let my boys have a go - maybe I should as they might be the collectables of the future

Ha, ha! He/she wouldn't be able to convince me in a million years that that coin was bent according to his write-up! Nice grade though, if it was cheaper I'd start wondering about chancing two bits of wood and a vice ;-) !

I'm not sure you'd impress too many women today by bending a micro-thin penny!

Buttercup is different, it's hand scribed using one V shaped and one half round tool rather than a machine. There is a triangular cut at each end of the letters and then the engraver gives a straight push or goes round curves in small increments.
