Wanted Cartwheel Penny

Ok, I am after a Cartwheel penny, nothing to fantastic and year is not important, but must be cheap, I want one merely so I can at least say I have one, and I can upgrade later. I have a fascination for one.

Can't buy it right now, but can in about a week or so. So if you have one for sale that you can set aside let me know will you.

Thank you Chris, the education is continuing,I didn't know that about these and 1797. I asked here because I would prefer one from a forum member than a dodgy copy /possible fake from ebay.

The likelyhood of picking up a fake cartwheel is pretty slim, if you want a nice cheap one, you could pick one up from ebay in about fine for prices ranging from 99p to £5., if you want to stretch to £15-£20 you can easily find them on ebay in gVF.

Indeed you can, and they are dead heavy and not very shiny Magpie except in VF++ and above, careful what you wish for!

Hi Paulus, I only have one wish, well two, one is for more knowledge bringing the ability to be able to work out coins for myself, the other is erm well, to figure out what I want to collect specifically, so many shiny objects to look at leave me with much confusion...

They only occur in 1797 flavour (along with their heavier sibling the twopence) I will keep my eye out ("Ouch" I hear Prof Cousins say) for one, but you'd be best having a look on eBay as these aren't really a forgery risk. If you find something there, post the link to it here and we can tell if it's worth bidding on. Don't worry, there's plenty about.
