Overlapping Metal on 1941 Brass Threepence

Recommended Posts

Hello.I was wondering if anyone has came across this?George the VI brass 3pence piece with the overlapping metal starting at the R in BR,It makes the R look like its doubled on the right hand side, the fold starts at the bottom of the R and runs to a rim bead, sorry no photo at present but I hope to post one as soon as I am able to rearrange settings in order to reduce size of photo to 150k.

With Thanks.Shamo.

Sounds like a laminating flan where a bit peels off, possibly due to an inclusion of some sort in the metal when the bar was made. Trapped air or a different material would do it.
