Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post.

I've recently been clearing out an attic and to my surprise I found a few coins.

I done a little research and tried to identify them. I really know nothing about coins.

The first I believe to be an (1888 22ct Gold Queen Victoria Jubilee Head Sovereign)- Need help Grading and Valuing. (flatted in spots and dull)

The third I believe to be an (1913 22ct Gold King George Sovereign) - Need help Grading and Valuing. (Best condition in case, no marks or scuffs)

The forth I believe to be an (1913 22ct Gold King George Sovereign set in a gold flowery pin.) - Need help Grading and Valuing. (good condition shiney, ever so slight flatting on head side of coin)

So there we go. Really just need clarification on whether I have identified them correctly, Values and type of condition grade each would come under.

and also the best place to advertise/sell them.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks Kieron

ps sorry not all the photo appear I reach my image limit :)

Hello, all the coins apart from the last one seem to be in good condition. If you were selling them you'd at least achieve bullion value of the coins (on ebay at least) if sold to a jeweller then you'd obviously get less.

In case it helps, I checked online for a bullion price and today's for a full sov was £260 from one buyer. x4 sovs = £1040

I get the impression online is best for prices. Jewellers offer 10% or more under melt .. and those 'Sell Your Gold' stalls least of all. Avoid them!

Whether any of the coins have collector value beyond their bullion, maybe others can advise.

I don't know that much about sovereigns (yet) but I'd say to test that brooch, its possible it might be gold even if it isn't marked. Even 9ct gold still has good value in this market as scrap.
