English Coin Prices Abroad

Recommended Posts

I would like to know price comparisons for quality milled English silver (in particular) sold at Australian and US auctions (including eBay) vs the UK, does anyone know if this research has been done or have any pointers to short-cut an investigation?

To do it yourself, search sites such as CoinArchives.com or mcsearch.info can be helpful. And of course, many international auction companies use hosts like sixbid or liveauctioneers.com to host and store auction information.

For ebay just click on 'worldwide' under location and search for completed listings or search via ebay.com or ebay.com.au

I don't think there's a real answer. It depends on the coin and how many people really want the coin at the time. I just won two maundy set from the States. Both sets are George VI which seem particularly hot at the moment and were usually going for anything up to £220+ I picked up one set for £158, bargain, and the other set for £98 :D. Lower value coins can also have the shine taken off by the postage. I always included the postage in the value I put on the coin.

I have picked up some good stuff from German Ebay.Luck comes into it.

When looking at US Ebay there tends to be less competition. There is less rubbish than the 49,950 bits of 10p crap that is on UK.
