I'm sure there is a list of fairs and auctions somewhere.

However the Midland is the 2nd Sunday in the month and Wakefield is the last Sunday.

York & London are not every month.Harrogate was back in March (once per year).

The slightly bigger Midland fair is quarterly.The next big one is in June.

I think some of the forum members even have tables.

Being a "fair virgin" myself, I wondered if many/any? ladies attend these things? Do you notice if there are engraved coins / love tokens on sale? In general how much are the entry fees?

You certainly wouldn't be the only lady there and definitely not the only lady collector. Love tokens/engraved coins are quite an esoteric subject so no dealer is going to specialise in them. That said, many dealers may have the odd one or two and given the large number of dealers that have stalls at these events, it would be an ideal opportunity to go up and ask them and in my view is probably the best way to build up your collection. Given the type of dealers present I think you might do best at the provincial shows. As an occasional stallholder myself, I'm not sure how much it costs to get in but if my memory serves me correctly, Birmingham was free.

Unfortunately I don't have any love tokens at present...

Most coin fairs cost a pound or two to get in. Exceptions are the big London ones on the first morning when they know big spenders will be in trying to get the most desirable pieces. York is free, Harrogate is a couple quid. Wakefield is this weekend at the Cedar Court hotel just off junction 39 of the M1, opens at 9:30. There are regulars who come from further away than you. Ditto for Birmingham at the National Motorcycle Museum which opens at 10. Both wind down by 2-2:30.

Birmingham is £1 and last time I went to Wakefield it was 50p.London is £4...typical.

Birmingham IMO is the best for my needs.

All dealers obtain bulk stock which will include engraved/love tokens etc.Just ask...speak to dealers and

being a close knit community they will soon put you on to who has what you want.

Apart from old men smelling of wee there are plenty of us "young Turks" There is a complete cross section of society in age/gender/financial standing but the atmosphere is good.

I usually carry about £1000 in cash,but dealers will usually put stuff away for you.There are also hoards of collectors who sift through 25p to £5 boxes...I've actually picked up some bargains from these.GEF veiled head 1d's with lustre for £1.A Gothic florin for £5 which made £35 on eBAY .

Take a glass with a light source,a ruck sack (plenty of catalogs) and be prepared to haggle.

Only if they're nuts for motorbikes - it's that kind of museum.

It's actually near the NEC - if I recall you take the same turning off the motorway, but turn the opposite way at the roundabout, and it's just off one of the exits. It's signed "Motorcycle Museum", anyway.
